Attended a funeral this morning
by man in black ina lady i work with recently lost her husband to brain cancer, she is a very nice person so i made it a point to attend his memorial.
mass at the local evangelical church.. as the service went on, the pastor had asked the man's son, brother, and two sisters to give a little speech about their father, and brother.. it was one of the most emotional things i ever witnessed at a funeral.. .
remember, most of these people are from a different religion, or don't have any belief at all.. the brother gave a very nice talk about growing up together, one sister just stuck to her written script, it was very hard for her to speak in public.. the other sister read a letter that she started when her brother discovered that he had cancer, so her letter covered events for two years.. she started crying several times when something she was reading struck her, yet she was able to laugh, and get the entire church to laugh along with one of her personal observations regarding her brother as he grew up.. the most emotional part was when his 23 year old son got up and read a tribute that he wrote to his dad,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.

When my own Mother passed away in 2007 I knew she wanted a Witness funeral ,she had been one for over 50 yrs .
I had already begun my fade . The Elder asked to do the service had recently lost his wife, and had always been a more heartfelt person . So when my JW brother and I went to talk with him I brought my Mom's journal with (she had documented highlights of her life ) . I asked him to personalize this service, and not to just preach . I also asked to say a few words ( he didn't know at the time that I was fading ) . To his credit he did give alot of personal accounts in his talk, and he also allowed me to come up and say a few words . Of course he kind of rambled off at the end about the "hope" witnesses believe in ....I thought my non witness Dad was going to get up and strangle him ..(.I had to clear my throat of few times and give him the finger across the throat motion to let him know he was done ....)
It wasn't all I had hoped for my Mom ,but still better than most Jw funeral experiences .

I agree with your experience completely ......
I will never forget when my non-Witness Grandmother died ,and her two witness daughters arrainged her funeral ......it was the most unfeeling ,cold ,callous service I ever attended . I was a young adult at the time ,still a witness mind you ,and it left me feeling hurt and bitter .
The Elder asked to do the service had never even met my Grandmother .....he read the outline approved for funerals to the word . No feeling ,no personalization .He covered Adam to Armageddon if you know what I mean . The Christian relatives in attendance were appalled , I could hear them murmuring behind me . Her whole service was designed to be a witness and that is all .Well it was a witness ......a bad one !
I left feeling sick ,hollow and unconsouled .....it really was an impression that has never left me .
Recently we attended a Christian relatives service and it was much like you described . A real comfort . A sharing of personal rememberances ,an out pouring of heartfelt sentiments . All of this left us feeling so much better than any witness funeral we ever attended .

Had any Dreams Lately you Want to Share ? What Meanings do you Get ?
by flipper ingawd- i had a crazy dream last night.
in books i've read about dreaming- it has stated many times dreams are about " unfinished situations " in your life that are trying to sort out within your dreams.. my dream was : my son flipper junior and me were being chased by government thugs who wanted us to release some important numbers - a code we had written down.
only problem was is this code had information that would cost our families & friends lives if these government people got them from us.

I had a dream this week that left me thinking "Wonder what this means " . I was on a vacation and shopping in cute little shops along the street . One shop had a winding staircase up to the second level to a tailors shop . While browsing in there I noticed a gay man trying on a very fine shirt ,but he needed to be sewn into it ( for some reason no buttons ) I volunteer to sew him in ......and at first he is very nice giving me compliments for helping out and for my sewing ability . But then things start going wrong ...the thread is too thick and leaving marks in the fabric ..I try over and over and it is just not working ...he starts belittleing me terribly .......His partners looks at me and says "Why do you always do this to yourself ???" and I say "Because I want people to like me ,I guess ..." Then I admit I really don't want to waste my time on this anymore .and I go find the tailor to help this guy out ,and I go on my way satisfied I did what I could ......
Weird huh ???? I do believe I understand the dream somewhat . My take on it is I really do tend to be a people pleaser ,and put others before myself ,,but I am learning set limits.

jw inlaws cant visit us because we dont live near anywhere that they visit !
by looloo inhi all, ive not posted for a while ,but my mother told me that recently she saw my non practising ex elder fatherin law who still believes in "the truth" im married to his disfellowshipped son and we have a lovely little girl who they have not seen for 18 months despite living just a half hour drive away, anyway my mother told him that i had said him and his die hard jw wife would be most welcome to come and see us and the grandaughter they claim to be heartbroken about not seeing anymore since we left town and to just give us a ring first !
he replied " well that will be a bit difficult because they dont live anywhere near where we visit !
" my mother was too stunned to reply !

That makes me heart sick .....but we see it in our family also .
Witnesses make up stupid reasonings in their heads to justify ill treatment of family .Then turn it around to make others feel sorry for them ,priceless and pointless.

Does the CO visit inactive ones during his visit?
by NiceDream inwe haven't been to meetings for a few months and weren't aware of the co visit until we received a phone call an hour and a half before the meeting letting us know.
no one came to visit us so far this week, not that i'm complaining.
does the co usually stop by in service?
-
troubled mind
Highly doubtful ......In the past four yrs not once has a CO attempted a visit to our family . The Elders only recently came by for a visit and their agenda
was not to encourage ,but to interrogate to find out if we were celebrating holidays and to question me about negative you tube videos I had on my account .

Examining The Scriptures Daily ( ...well, if we don't sue you)
by Yan Bibiyan inwe know of numerous instances when the borg goes after 'apostate" inspired quoting of their own materials.. looks like they are bitchy about the ones with good intentions too.
didn't they want the message to be preached "all over the inhabited earth"?.

What do they really expect ??? They are worshipping a Publishing Company ,yet think they will not enforce copyright laws ? Silly dubbies....
Hope this opens some naive eyes , but highly doubt it because a good dub will see the logic that the Publishing Company is always right

Highdose's pendulam problem...
by highdose inan update on me: i seem to be swinging from one state to another recently.
some days i will feel very peacefull within myself about the borg and my experiances in it.
i will feel like i'm almost able to forgive all those cult members who made my life hell.. ... and then the pendulam swings and i find myself remembering something about them that makes me just so furious!

Yes I have experienced the same sort of pendulam swinging emotions .
In the past I have had depression problems ,yrs ago , and medication helped . Since leaving the witnesses it has been a roller coaster of emotional highs and lows . Mostly I was feeling happier and mentally thinking so much clearer ,but lately I have struggled . The last couple of months have been hard .....to the point I have considered meds again ....idk .
I am first going to really try focusing on positive input and refusing to ruminate on the JW garbage . It is a struggle because everyday something reminds me of the JW past . Relatives , Jw neighbors ect ... I have to put forth a conscious effort everyday to redirect my thinking to stay positive and upbeat , sometimes it is just exhausting ...... Do other people just do that naturally ??
